Vector Linux SOHO Is Free Again

O'Reilly Broadcast blogger Caitlyn Martin reports: After stripping away the marketing hype the net result is that SOHO is once again free.

I also have to wonder if there was some push back from the community when SOHO, which was free for download when version 5.8 was current, was moved to a paid-only status.

Her conclusions: Slackware is still Slackware. It's incredibly flexible, fast and rock solid but terribly user unfriendly.

She tried Vector Linux Light 5,. Beta 5 and writes about advances in green computing she found. Most impressive: VL-Hot, a HAL replacement which doesn't poll the hardware, working with LXDE, a new lightweight desktop.
