I just bought an SLI notebook computer I thought would blow my current self-built desktop out of the water in terms of playing Call of Duty 4, since most of the major hardware is substantially improved.

"Getting COD4 to run in Wine is really no more complicated than say… my tutorial on running all the games in the Orange Box (TF2, Portal, HL2, etc).

Getting COD4 up and running takes a little bit more time, since compiling Wine takes the better part of 15 minutes on a relatively fast computer." So yeah there's some pain but it's worth it!
