Install IPP2P in Debian Etch to Block P2P

Digg Linux/Unix upcoming  Fri, 11/14/2008 - 04:08

What is IPP2PThe goal of the IPP2P project is to identify peer-to-peer (P2P) data in IP traffic. For this purpose we extended the iptables/netfilter architecture by a new matching module.

Thereby IPP2P integrates itself easily into existing Linux firewalls and it's functionality can be used by adding appropriate filter rules.

Using IPv6 On Debian Etch

Linux Today  Thu, 11/06/2008 - 19:05

HowtoForge: "This document describes how you can configure a Debian Etch system for IPv6 so that a) it can connect to other IPv6 hosts and b) other IPv6 hosts can connect to it.

IPv6 should become more important in the future as recent estimates assume that there will be no more IPv4 addresses left by 2010 or 2011.

Therefore it's time time to learn IPv6."

Preventing MySQL Injection Attacks With GreenSQL On Debian Etch

Linux Today  Thu, 10/30/2008 - 05:36

HowtoForge: "GreenSQL (or greensql-fw) is a firewall for MySQL databases that filters SQL injection attacks. It works as a reverse proxy, i.e., it takes the SQL queries, checks them, passes them on to the MySQL database and delivers back the result from the MySQL database.

It comes with a web interface (called greensql-console) so that you can manage GreenSQL through a web browser."

Topix - Linux  Fri, 10/24/2008 - 23:33

Debian GNU/Linux 4.0, codenamed Etch, had been due to arrive by December 4, 2006, but it's been delayed because some developers have 'deliberately' slowed down their work.

Debian Etch on The Self-Reliant Thin Client

Debian-News.net  Wed, 10/22/2008 - 12:00

I also recently installed the PowerPC build of Etch on my Power Macintosh G4/466, but I've been using the converted thin client almost exclusively since I built it last week using an 8 GB Compact Flash module as the system's sole hard drive.

Debian (Etch) Linux Review

Debian-News.net  Sat, 10/18/2008 - 14:00

This is one of our favourite distributions here at Symsys, because it’s extremely functional, quite easy to learn and use and in general is an all-round good operating system.

I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for new users though.

Upgrading my VPS to Debian Etch

Debian-News.net  Mon, 10/13/2008 - 14:00

So far I ran every website on Debian Sarge, and though it’s stable they choose to no longer developer for it nor support it.

So it was time to move to a newer version. Wich I did yesterday.
