Google shows off Android goodies

Search giant Google yesterday demonstrated gesture- and touchscreen-based password entry on a prototype Linux Android phone, according to reports.

Part of a Google developer conference, the demonstration also reportedly showed off a "compass" feature that adjusts Google Maps' Street View according to the user's orientation.

Enter QuickTime's full screen mode with a gesture

I have been wondering where gestures (on the MacBook Air and new MacBook Pros) can work and how, so I've tried gestures in many apps, including QuickTime Player.

If you use the "make bigger" pinch gesture on an open movie, it goes full screen. If you do the opposite "make smaller" gesture, the movie goes back to windowed mode.Pretty handy for those of us who need to work with many clips and movies.


 

Simulate gestures in the iPhone Simulator

You can simulate the 'pinch to zoom' gesture of the iPhone in Apple's Aspen Simulator by holding down the Option key while clicking the mouse in the area you wish to pinch.

This brings up a pair of dots that represent your fingertips.
