COM Express module targets display systems

Adlink announced an entry-level, display-oriented Intel Atom-based COM Express module. The Express-AT incorporates a 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, supports CRT resolution up to 1600 x 1200, and provides a gigabit Ethernet port and two SATA ports, says the company.

In November, Asus will ship a $400 Windows-based "nettop" that includes an integrated touchscreen and Linux-based "Express Gate" quick boot technology.

The "Eee Top" reportedly has a 15-inch display, 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, and a gigabit Ethernet port.

Atom squeezes onto Pico-ITX board

Axiomtek has announced what it says is the world's first pico-ITX SBC (single board computer) packing Intel's Atom processor.

The PICO820 offers 1.1GHz or 1.6GHz Z5xx CPUs, gigabit Ethernet, a SATA port, a VGA port, and headers for four serial ports, the company says.


 

Nettop is "almost fanless"

Shuttle Incorporated unveiled a "nettop" computer claimed to offer "almost fanless" operation and use just 38 Watts.

The mini-ITX based "X27" includes an Intel Atom 230 processor, a gigabit Ethernet port, DVI video output, a 2.5-inch hard drive bay, and a PCI expansion slot, says Shuttle.


 

Intel unveils dual-core Atom

Intel has brought out a dual-core version of its Atom ("Diamondville") processor for low-cost "nettop" PCs.

The Atom 330 will ship initially in a low-cost D945GCLF2 mini-ITX board that has gigabit Ethernet, S-video, six-channel audio, eight USB ports, and PCI expansion.
