Ubuntu 8.10 Release Candidate up for grabs

The Intrepid Ibex is so close now that we can almost grab and hug it but that won't really happen until next week when the final version of Ubuntu 8.10 will be delivered.

For those who can't go Ubuntu-less for that long, the operating system's developers have offered the (first) Release Candidate of Ubuntu 8.10.


 

gOS 3 Gadgets is up for grabs

Announced at LinuxWorld just a month ago Good OS LLC's gOS 3 Gadgets has now been released and is awaiting download.

Based on tu 8.04.1, gOS 3 comes with the latest WINE version, Google Desktop, Picasa, Google Earth plus Documents, Calendar, and Mail, plus it gives users access to over 100,000 iGoogle and Google Gadgets.


 

Chrome? I Want To Love Ya

Google is smart and oh-so-sly. The company released its Chrome Web browser and everyone's writing about it. One article I saw recently says Chrome grabbed a bunch of users in short order (see "Chrome Grabs 1 Percent of Market in Under 24 Hours").

I don't know whether to doubt that--or just wonder.
