VIA Publishes 2D/3D Documentation, Partners With OpenChrome

They have made a few small steps over the past few months, but today they have made their largest open-source contribution yet by releasing four programming documentation guides that cover the video, 2D, and 3D programming for their Chrome 9 graphics processor.

AMD Stream SDK Coming To Linux Soon

NVIDIA has long supported their CUDA (Compute Unified Device Architecture) technology on Linux for allowing general-purpose code algorithms to be executed on the graphics processor, while AMD and their Stream Computing support has been absent on Linux.

Chipmaker Via's S3 Graphics division has announced a high-performance discrete graphics processor positioned as the first to meet the embedded industry's thermal requirements.

The 4300E targets gaming and signage, offers HD video, DVI or HDMI output, and mixes dedicated and shared video memory.
