Linux Should Copy Amiga, Not Mac

Mark Shuttleworth made headlines not too long ago when he called for the Linux desktop to surpass Mac OS X in both beauty and functionality.

While a lot of folks thought that was breathtaking and audacious, I think he's aiming too low. I think Linux should aspire to equal or better the AmigaOS.

If everything goes on plan, the early alpha release of Ubuntu 9.04 (the Jaunty Jackalope) will be announced today.

There is almost month of last final Ubuntu release, Mark Shuttleworth and Ubuntu team starts to work on the next 9.04 version, more featured and desirable fastest bootable Ubuntu distribution.

When Mark Shuttleworth had announced Ubuntu 9.04 in September, he expressed interest in making this popular Linux distribution boot "blindly quick", which shouldn't be surprising considering Ubuntu's presence on more and more devices through the desktop spin on notebooks, Ubuntu Mobile on MIDs, and Ubuntu Netbook Remix on netbooks.
