AMD prepares to enter the netbook market

Intel rival AMD is secretly preparing to compete with Intel on the netbook market with their latest Sempron 200U & 210U CPU's.

There were already some rumors about the so-called Bobcat CPU, which would be launched by AMD as a netbook CPU, but untill now these were only rumors.

Intel says it will "target the personal computer graphics market" as early as next year with a new chip employing multiple Pentium-based cores.

"Larrabee" offers claimed support for DirectX and OpenGL, and may compete with the discrete graphics processing units (GPUs) offered by AMD/ATI and Nvidia.

Wind River, Intel ride Linux into car market

Intel and Wind River Systems have teamed up to create a Linux/x86 platform for car electronics, which will debut at the Telematics Detroit 2008 conference today (May 20).

The offering is based on Intel's low-power Atom processor and a new variant of Wind River's embedded Linux.
