Linux-Watch wraps up OSCON, the O'Reilly Open Source Convention held last July.

"This year, OSCON introduced the Open Mobile Exchange, a one-day event addressing business, technology, web, and open source topics related to the mobile technology industry.

Other events included a "hallway track" held to "debate and discuss important issues," as well as an OSCamp, a freewheeling user-directed "unconference" that was open to all comers.

Wrapping up the OSCON (Open Source Convention) held in Portland, Oregon on July 21-25, show organizer O'Reilly Media has posted photos, videos, and presentations files.

Meanwhile, winners of the 2008 Google-O'Reilly Open Source Awards and the SourceForge.net 2008 Community Choice Awards have also been announced.

At this week's Open Source Convention, Tim O'Reilly identified the next three opportunities and challenges the community should pay attention to: cloud computing, the open programmable Web and open mobile.

But open source is a philosophy, not just a technology; another speaker exhorted attendees to get involved in a larger effort.

This week I'm at the Open Source Convention in Portland, aka OSCON. First impression, before showing up: it seems all focused on big business.
