Resetting Ubuntu password

Today peoples have so many passwords to be remembered, but sometimes we forget what are they. It’s so lucky for portal likes Yahoo, Google, Facebook, etc.

They have link to reset the password then send it to our email afterwards. But what happens when you forget the password for your operating system? would you reinstall your OS ?
