Warning: Ubuntu/Arch Linux Slowdown? Check Your Swap

A Linux-Hardcore.com user found that Ubuntu created two different uuid's for the swap partition resulting in no Swap being used.

Myself and another member also found that Arch Linux made the same mistake. Please check your /etc/mtab to see if swap is listed.

This could be the cause for many performance problems on lower-end machines, even crashes.


 

Improving Windows XP Guest in VMware Player

Stubborn Tech Problem Solving: "I use XP in VMware Player to run some CAD applications on my Ubuntu system.

I don't actually have to use XP for them as they function under Wine but I've been too busy to reinstall them and recreate their configurations.

This setup works more or less but there are a few bugs and performance problems I've had to find workarounds for."
