KDE 4.1 released

The KDE 4.1 release is available. "KDE 4.1 is the first KDE4 release to contain the Personal Information Management suite KDE-PIM with its E-Mail client KMail, the planner KOrganizer, Akregator, the RSS feed reader, KNode, the newsgroup reader and many more components integrated into the Kontact shell.

Furthermore, the new desktop shell Plasma, introduced in KDE 4.0, has matured to the point where it can replace the KDE 3 shell for most casual users.

Open source push email vendor scores funding

Funambol announced a new $12.5-million funding round to promote its open-source push email and personal information management (PIM) synchronization software for mobile devices.

Meanwhile, the company is pushing forward with versions of its Linux-compatible software for the iPhone, Blackberry, AOL's IM, and soon, Android.


 

KDE PIM Krush Day Announced for Sunday 8th June

The aim of the day will be to find and document as many of the bugs in the personal information management applications (including KMail, Kontact, Akregator and many more) of the upcoming KDE 4.1 release as possible.

Krush Days are an excellent opportunity for KDE users keen to make their first contribution to the KDE project.
