PMPs run Linux on ARM Cortex

Archos announced a new line of portable media players (PMPs) that run on ARM Cortex processors. The Archos 5 and Archos 7 (pictured) offer 4.8- and 7-inch touchscreens, respectively, and include WiFi, hard drives, HD (720p) video playback, and an optional 3.5G cellular connection.

Pleyo and Sand-Labs.org have released a third-generation beta version of their Webkit-based, open source browser for consumer-electronics devices.

Supporting generic GTK, Access Linux Platform, or SDL (simple direct layer), Origyn Web Browser (OWB) targets consumer devices such as phones, portable media players, and set-top boxes.
