FPGA dev kit supports dual PowerPCs

Xilinx is shipping a development kit for its high-end Virtex-5 FXT FPGA (field-programmable gate array) that supports dual PowerPC440 processors.

The Virtex-5 FXT FPGA ML510 Embedded Development Platform includes an ATX-format evaluation board, and is available with a Linux BSP (board support package).


 

CPU module has FPGA onboard

TQ Components released a 2.95 by 2.4-inch computer module with a Freescale i.MX31 SoC (system on chip) and Altera FPGA (field programmable gate array).

The TQMa31 runs Linux, with 256MB of RAM, 1 GB of flash, plus CAN, I2C, SPI and serial interfaces, says TQ.

The Embedded Development HW/SW Kit -- Virtex-5 FX70T PowerPC and MicroBlaze Processor Edition targets communications, military, and aerospace applications, and is available with a Linux BSP (board support package).


 

HD surveillance camera design runs homespun Linux

Marseilles, France-based Nexvision has announced a network IP (Internet protocol) video camera design that incorporates the Texas Instruments (TI) DaVinci TMS320DM6467 processor.

The Linux-based CamHD hardware/software reference design is equipped with an Altera Cyclone III FPGA (field-programmable gate array), and boasts a claimed 1080P HD resolution.

Technologic Systems is shipping a rugged WVGA touchpanel PC based on a fast-booting ARM9-based single board computer (SBC).

The TS-TPC-7390 Touch Panel Computer incorporates the Debian Linux-based TS-7390 SBC, which is equipped with a 200MHz ARM9 CPU from Cirrus and a Lattice FPGA (field-programmable gate array).

Xilinx unveiled version 10.1 of its Embedded Development Kit (EDK) in support of its new high-end Virtex-5 FXT field-programmable gate array (FPGA).

Meanwhile, software vendors supporting the EDK and the dual-core PowerPC-based FPGA include MontaVista, Wind River, LynuxWorks, Timesys, Avnet, Green Hills Software, and Lauterbach.

Designed for high-end communications applications such as wireless base-stations, the PowerPC 440-based Virtex-5 FXT FPGA is the fastest in the company's 65nm Virtex-5 line, with DSP performance of over 190 GMACs.
