Making Skype and Ubuntu 8.10 get along, specially on the AA1

As you may or may not know, the current version of skype does not work out of the box in Ubuntu 8.10. The solution can be simple or farelly complex.

It depends on how the system is dealing with your soundcard.

With the release of Fedora 10 I took the opportunity to finally switch over to 64bit Linux - including the proprietary stuff like Flash, Skype, and so on.

Also, Fedora 10 itself had several rather pleasing surprises for me.

After upgrading to Intrepid Ibex, there are several problem encountered, such Skype and shutdown process, but all of that problem now has been fixed.

The last problem that still annoying to me right now is my firefox running very slow compared to Firefox on Hardy Heron.

After writing about shutdown problem in Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex 8.10, now I found another problem with my Skype.

I have Logitech Quickcam E 3500 installed, and previously there is no problem with Ubuntu Hardy Heron. The problem comes from the microphone, everytime I try to call someone or Skype call test, there is a message “Problem with Audio

Results from video test on Skype, on the other hand, is positive on my system, So My webcam is not the issue here. Any pointers?
