A Linux-Hardcore.com user found that Ubuntu created two different uuid's for the swap partition resulting in no Swap being used. Myself and another member also found that Arch Linux made the same mistake. Please check your /etc/mtab to see if swap is listed. This could be the cause for many performance problems on lower-end machines, even crashes.

I replied to this, but seem to have replied direct to the poster by mistake. The problem appears if you are using the rfc2307bis.schema in slapd.conf instead of nis.schema. This happened to me with OpenSuSe 11.

Something bad could happen if you delete /etc/vfstab by mistake and you do not have a backup, the system would not find the required partitions to boot, they are: root (/), /usr, and /var.

Comcast has blamed Ubuntu Linux for my speed issues and they were wrong. Comcast has blamed my cable modem for my speed issues and they were wrong again.
