Linux: Controlling fanspeeds: motherboards, Thinkpad and Eee

In this post I have described how to control fanspeed on Linux using the lm_sensors tool called fancontrol. Fancontrol is a small script that monitors temperatures and fanspeeds and sets the fan at the minimum required level to insure low noise levels.
