Using mod_security to stop referer and comment spam

An easy-to-follow tutorial for blocking referer spam using mod_security on Apache. Most simple referer spam solutions block referer spam request-by-request, but this guide will show you how to dynamically block IP addresses based on a simple scoring mechanism.

As a bonus, this will also block quite a bit of comment spam.
